Many people in the Sandy Creek neighborhood have been directly impacted by the July 4th floods, my daughter included. She called about 3am on the 4th asking her father to come get her from her home which backs up to the creek. My husband came home about 45 minutes later with a broken look on his face saying he couldn’t even get close to her home.
She was able to evacuate, not out of the neighborhood, but to higher ground in the neighborhood. She lost her garage/storage facility in her yard including the contents along with a storage shed and the contents inside. The water went past her house all the way to the road. There were bodies discovered in neighboring yards along with cars, people’s homes and their contents. Many lost more, including their lives, and there have been some amazing volunteers and donations, but the devastation in this area of Leander wasn’t fully recognized until a week or two later. The ONLY bridge leading from the island was deemed unsafe on the morning of the 6th with my car on her property. I was able to retrieve it about two weeks later.
I’d like to give back to this community by offering handmade Fine silver (999.9% pure silver, higher silver content than Sterling) pendants with the state of Texas imprinted on the front in two sizes, 12 and 14mm in diameter with an imprinted dot in the affected area of the state. These will come to you ready to hang on your chain. I will be donating 100% of the sales back to the community that has been hit so hard. That means I’m donating the materials and my time to help these people recover so every sale will put $75 into this community. Please help me help this community to recover as these residents were unable to leave the island to get to work, appointments, grocery shopping, etc. and now have to worry about eviction due to being unable to pay rent because of not being able to leave for work.
